.. about career and success

What have you done during the past few months have you had time for vacation?
- For a week. I've furnished my new house where I moved a few weeks ago. I've also been at the cottage staring at the moon. Otherwise the summer went by mostly in shooting a video, doing interviews, touring Europe, training and preparing for the future. I got to visit Disneyland and the Stanley Cup final.

How have the fans reacted to Anette?
- Most seem to like or at least give her a chance. I hope for courtesy and understanding when we begin touring. This is going to be really hard for Anette, but she has definetly done nothing wrong. If someone wants to throw tomatoes you can throw them at us because we chose her - or mostly at our drummer since he's a vegetarian and likes tomatoes.

Why did you chose Anette among the 2000 candidates?
- In her combined the right voice and personality. She send us a demo is impressed us. We met face to face and again we were stunned. Eventually we took her to Kitee. It was October, cold as hell and it raining wet snow. We slept in one room, six people in sleeping bags on the floor. It was a test - pulled the rug under her feet at once. She enjoyed it a lot and she didn't complain at all.

Have you been in contact with Tarja Turunen? Has she commented choosing Anette to you?
- We haven't been in any contact since the end of 2005.

Can you walk anywhere without a fuss?
- Not in Finland. But I've never felt threatened, all the people have been nice. Sometimes people stare and I think they aren't doing it on purpose. I've dug my own grave. And I do it myself! When we were going to Los Angeles Michael Jackson was on the same plane and I did stare at him and told everyone I had seen him.

What the worst thing in publicity?
- People forming an opinion of me based on my public image. That feels bad. I have never understood the sentence 'I don't care what others think of me'. Of course it matters. When people believe everything they read in the papers that hurts. I care what people think of me, I still haven't been able to rise above it.

What's your recepy to keeping your feet on the ground?
- Nobody in the band is showing off. Maybe it's because we're all country boys. The basic values in life are honest. It helps to look in the mirror every morning.

What do you think when you look in the mirror?
- The person who looks back, I don't like him very much but he's given so much.

What will you be doing in 15 years?
- I'll still be doing music. Probably I've settled down a little more than earlier in my own house in Kitee and if God grants I'll have a family, an herb garden in my back yard, I'll be growing organic carrots and my own dog will be barking in the corners.

...about family and friends

Is it hard for you to get to know new people when there's always the risk they'll take advantage of you?
- I think I'm a pretty good judge of character. I have bad social skills and I'm not easily approachable. I also don't like very much to get to know complete strangers, my circle of friends is pretty much the same. If I'm anyhow in a situation where there are new people, I listen and observe where we're going before I open my mouth.

Has some of your old friends betrayed you after you've become famous?
- That's never happened. None of my old girlfriends or friends have never talked bad about me. That says alot about them.

When would you want your own family?
- I still have too strong of a wanderlust. I now want to tour and see the world. If I'm someday granted a child I really want to spend time with it. But now I don't want a family.

...about love

Are you in a relationship now?
- No.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
- I don't because love is something that can only come with time. But companionship of souls or a huge crush can happen in five seconds. And that can lead to love. But complete love with first sight feels a little weird.

The most important thing you've learned about love?
- Love is madness in which you should give yourself completely. Love is the best feeling in the world. You have to throw yourself in it forget about reason and let it take you. As soon as you hold back and think logically something's wrong. Love is life's greatest gift - that I've learned.

Is it true that you said in some interview that sex is overrated?
- I told in a Norwegian internet-tv interview that I've never in my life bought adult magazines because I don't value them nor understand them. And added that sex is overrated. After that it's been a headline in 15 Finnish newspapers. I meant that sex is overadvertised because it's pushed everywhere. Sex is of course a lot of fun, but I'm a conservative person who thinks it has some kind of sacredness that shouldn't be spread in magazines. Likewise everyone should know themselves when they're ready for it. It might be a greater reason for pride to be a 21-year-old virgin than to have had sex at 13. At least that's what it looks like from an adult's point of view.

Has your heart ever been broken? How did you survive from it?
- A few times. Time has a unbelievable healing effect. No decisions should be made the moment something's happening but you should let three nights pass and then think about the matter again. This is my grandfather's smartest advice in life. But it's also really important to go through the sorrow, because strong feelings from sadness to agony and joy are great sources of strenght. So there's no point in trying to continue life just the same, but you can let go of the everyday routines for a week and grieve. Friends are a good help and it's also important to keep yourself active.

If you want to sweep a girl of her feet what's your secret weapon?
- I have to answer with a cliché: being natural. People have a built-in sense to regonize what is real and what's not. If you try to fake it even a little the other person will notice.

...about everyday life and moral

Do you feel guilty about something?
- About many things. There are a lot of social relationships that are left uncared because I don't have the time. The other thing is, I haven't gone to the gym in a long time. And again because of the rush. Of course I could find time but not energy.

When was the last time you cried and what made you cry?
- A week ago on Saturday. Grandpa died.

What the last textmessage you got?
- Jouni Hynynen sent a message a short while ago and asked what was my Gramex-number. (copyright number)

How much did you lie during this interview?
- Not once.
